11/5/08 Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Coleen Palmer, Nicole Green, Peter Leida, Ms. Nunville, Ted Bosworth, Jim and Gigi Traynor, Cyndie O’Brien, Melanie Barbas, Dondrea Martin, Maria and Raymond Santos and Michelle Maybroda.
I. Treasurer’s Report
a. A copy of the Treasurer’s Report was given to everyone who attended the meeting. In the report in summary, the Reading Night cost approx. $800.00, buses for field trips approx. $400.00 and school store supplies approx. $540.00.
b. A copy of the report will be provided to anyone interested.
II. Delisheries Fundraiser
a. All of the items came in earlier than expected. Therefore, the cookies had to be given out earlier than the planned date of the conferences. Thank you Ted Bosworth for helping that evening!
b. The Delisheries Fundraiser was a great success! Thank you for participating and making it so successful.
III. Spiritwear
a. Coleen provided a price sheet that was passed around in the meeting. A new price sheet will be completed and posted to the blog soon.
b. The spiritwear will be kicked off the week of November 17th exhibiting some of the wearables at Skate Night. The products will arrive in January.
c. There is a discount offer of 10% when you buy three or more items.
IV. Skate Night
a. As noted above the spiritwear will be shared with parents at a table at Skate Night.
b. The school is to provide a half sheet reminder about Skate Night.
V. Movie Night
a. Movie night will be part of Take Your Family To Work Week in February.
b. Movies were not discussed.
VI. Take Your Family To Work Week
a. This National PTA celebration has been agreed upon with Peter Leida.
b. We will have an art exhibit created by the children with the help of Ms Millman.
c. Parents are free to have lunch with their children.
d. A movie will be provided free of charge to families during this week.
e. The registration is completed and the recipients of the awards will be notified December 5, 2008.
VII. National PTA Parent Involvement Schools of Excellence Program
a. This National PTA recognition has been agreed upon to implement by Peter Leida.
b. Registration is due December 31st.
c. A copy of the explanation and how to implement was provided to all in attendance.
d. The recognition is valid for three years after creating a committee and creating surveys for parents.
e. This will be discussed more at the next meeting in December.
f. A copy will be provided upon request.
VIII. McDonalds Night
a. This has been rescheduled on December 17th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Please make sure you come out and support our school staff!
IX. Home Room Parents
a. The idea was accepted by parents and Peter Leida.
b. Mr. Leida is going to see if his staff is interested and possibly provide us with some basic things parents could help out with.
c. Also, create an avenue to contact the teacher to see his/her individual needs are.
X. Substitute Teacher – Gigi Traynor
a. Gigi one our PTA members is employed with an temporary agency that is great need of substitute teachers in Colonial and Christina school districts.
b. She is employed by Kelly Services. More info to follow on blog.

XI. Smart Kids Day
a. The celebration date is November 24th for science and math activities all day at the school.
b. There are t-shirts that are provided by the PTA for this event as well.

XII. Next Meeting Date/Time
a. Wednesday, December 3rd at 6:00pm.
b. We will have light refreshments and a video for children.
c. Hope to see you there!
