Pleasantville PTA Minutes

December 3, 2008

Attendees:  Coleen Palmer, Nicole Green, Peter Leida, Ted Bosworth, Cyndie O’Brien, Ms Carter.

I.                   Treasurer’s Report

a.       A copy of the Treasurer’s Report was given to everyone who attended the meeting.  A copy of the report will be provided to anyone interested.

II.                Spiritwear

a.       Sale ends Monday, December 8^th.  There is an exhibit in the hallway at the entrance of the school.

III.             Skate Night

a.       This was a great success and we had enough to prepay the next Skate Night and had approx. $300.00 for future school activities.

IV.              Take Your Family To Work Week

a.       Peter Leida will have an outline of ideas on paper from Ms. Millman regarding some ideas for the art exhibit on Friday, February 13^th.  Exhibit will run approx one hour prior to movie start time of 6:30pm. 

b.      Parents are free to have lunch with their children.

c.       A movie will be provided free of charge to families during this week.  However, PTA will sell light refreshments to attendees.  The movie will be a new release Disney movie.  Also, volunteers are needed to help organize and work Movie Night.

V.                 National PTA Parent Involvement Schools of Excellence Program

a.       Coleen decided to cancel for this school year and try for next year.

b.      Those at the meeting agreed that it would not be a bad idea.

VI.              Home Room Parents

a.       Ms. Nuneville created a survey for the teachers to get an idea of their needs and those interested sent home paperwork with the classroom children for the parents.  Thank you Ms. Nuneville for your time and efforts!

b.      Training for parents interested will be held on January 15^th at 9:30am.

c.       Additional training will be provided for parents that are interested after the January training every 1^st Thursday of the month.

VII.           New Info

a.       Mrs. Burke will be leaving classroom 32 and Ms. Sateriale started December 3^rd.  Thank you Ms. Burke and welcome to Ms. Sateriale.

b.      School store has been cancelled for the month of December.  New dates to follow.

VIII.        Next Meeting Date/Time

a.      Thursday, January 8^th and then Tuesday, February 3^rd at 6:00pm in the school library.

b.      We will have light refreshments and a video for children.
